Disposing of Garden Waste

The best way to deal with garden waste is to compost it in your own garden. However, we understand that this is not always possible and that you may require your garden waste to be removed from site and disposed of legally and safely.
Urban Jungle Gardens is licensed by the Environment Agency as a Waste Carrier. This means that we can legally transport your green waste for you for safe, legal disposal. Check our entry in the public register by clicking here.
All green waste that we remove for disposal is delivered to Devon Waste Management who then transport it to 5 centralised composting/shredding sites where it is shredded and either composted on that site or delivered to numerous farms where it undergoes a regulated aerobic composting process in windrows. The benefit of the latter is that it is introduced straight into an agricultural use as a soil conditioner. All the sites are run in accordance with strict licence or exemption requirements issued by the Environment Agency.
How Much Does It Cost?
For all green waste excluding soil, rubble, stumps and branches over 10cm in diameter, we charge £5 per sack. There is a minimum charge of £5.
For soil, rubble, stumps and branches over 10cm thick, prices will be determined by volume and weight. We are unable to dispose of these items ourselves and will work with a third party. An administration charge of £15 will apply in addition to the cost of disposal.
How Much Fits in a Sack?
We use large 'dumpy sack' for waste disposal. We will classify this as full when either we can fit no more waste in by volume or the weight of the waste is too great for us to safely move the sack. Our decision is final on the weight of a sack.
You've Given Me a Fixed Price for Work, Is Waste Extra?
If we've given you a fixed price for a job or for a reglar visit, waste will be included in this unless specifically specified as an additional cost.
Do You Dispose of Waste That You Have Not Produced?
Yes. Waste will be charged by volume plus a £50 callout charge.
